As I noted in my previous post, I was considering submitting a photo of "b&w weather" which in the end I didn't. Four of the five below images were the result of processing some that I thought had potential, and that I'm still quite pleased with. These were all taken in 2007 I believe.

The above was taken from my hotel room in the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur. It was probably the worst weather day of my trip there, thankfully it was the last day! (click on image for larger version if you want)

This one above was taken while staying on Libaran Island lodge in Borneo. This was a relatively boring photo in color that I think benefitted from a b&w conversion which brought out the contrast much better. I really wanted to create one of thos b&w prints with those powerful blacks and equally strong whites.

On top of the mountain on Langkawi. Again, going for that strong contrast which I love in good b&w prints. And, I can highly recommend the Tanjung Rhu Resort!

Again on Libaran island. I really really like how the glow is coming from behind the cloud in front of the sun on the bottom right. This only became clear when I converted it to b&w. I really like the sense of vastness I feel looking at this, but maybe it's because I was there and know what it's really like...do you get that feeling looking at this?

This last one is from a shoot I did with Petar, an officemate of Marcus'. A couple of other shots of him can be seen here and here. We were going for a bit more of a "fashion" feel but also more urban and gritty. I processed this one cranking up the "fill light' and "blacks" in Lightroom and also beefing up the "Clarity"... gives it this edgier feel and sometimes creates a bit of a 3d feel by creating more depth in the image.

Anyway, off to Mexico for the next three weeks, so I'm not looking forward to the bundle of images I'll have to process upon my return.. but it'll be worth it!
